Chartered Accountant Career Advice: How to Become One After 12th

After completing 12th, the candidate must register with the ICAI online portal. The Chartered Accountant Course or Common Proficiency Test registration form can be found on the portal. You will be required to pay fees once you submit the form.

Ten Steps to Become a CA - After 12th

  • After you have completed the 12th grade, you can enroll in the CA-Foundation course (Common Proficiency Test, or CPT). The registration number, user ID, and password will be provided to you during this process.
  • You can take the exams after four months of studying. To get the admit card, you must fill out the examination form. It requires a score of 40% out of 100 points.
  • Following the CA-Foundation Exam, you can enroll in the IPCC or CA-Intermediate.
  • Attend the 30 day Integrated Course in IT and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and take the exams within four weeks of the course. You should complete the course prior to publishing the article. You should do this as soon as you register for IPCC or CA-Intermediate.
  • Then you can take the IPCC or CA-Intermediate Exams after studying for 8 months. They are divided into two categories. They can be taken individually or simultaneously. There is a maximum of 100 marks for each subject, and you only need to score 40% on each.
  • Upon completion of CA-Intermediate, you will be hired by CA-Firm to do your 3 year article-ship.
  • To be eligible for the CA-Final, you need to pass the IPCC with 40 points out of 100.
  • In four weeks, you can complete a 4-week Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology (AICITSS) and Soft skills.
  • You must complete your article-ship before you can take the final exams, and you must score 40 out of 100 points and achieve an aggregate score of 50% to become a Chartered Accountant.

The process of becoming a CA after graduating or after post graduation

  • CA-Foundation is not a prerequisite; instead candidates can enter from the integrated professional competence course (IPCC) or from CA-Intermediate.
  • If you are from the commerce stream, you must complete your graduation or post-graduation with a minimum aggregate of 55%, and if you are from another stream, you must achieve a minimum aggregate of 60%.
  • Registration is required for the IPCC or CA-Intermediate.

The exams are held every May and November. Registration for the May and November exams should be completed in December and June respectively. There is a fee for registering, taking the exam, completing the online form and obtaining the membership form, online journal and the Final 32,200 (both groups) of the CA-Foundation exam. CA-Foundation requires four papers and IPCC and Finals require two groups of four papers each. This is a 100-mark paper, and you need to score 40% on each subject and 50% overall.
